Annual Banquet

The Chamber’s 80^thAnnual Banquet, the annual meeting of the Chamber of Commerce, was a tremendous success. As we kicked off a new year and recognized the many accomplishments of our members and leadership in 2011, we were proud to have more than 300 local professionals join us for the evening on Jan. 26, 2012 at the Hyatt Place Dallas Garland.

Keynote speaker W. Michael Cox, Ph. D. is the Director of the O’Neil Center for Global Markets and Freedom for the Cox School of Business at Southern Methodist University. The prestige of Dr. Cox’s position at SMU is evident, but his history adds much to his allure. Cox formerly served as the Chief Economist and Senior Vice President of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas. He has been published numerous times in leading business press such as The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times and USA Today. Cox is also an internationally recognized consultant and speaker. Though his credentials alone are impressive, this “optimistic economist” captured our attention with his unique ability to make sense out of difficult economic issues.

Annual Prayer Breakfast

On behalf of the Garland Chamber of Commerce and the Leadership Garland program, we would like to thank you for the community support you showed with your attendance at our 24^th Annual Prayer Breakfast Dec. 8, 2011. We were so pleased with the turnout and thrilled for the opportunity to bring Texas Secretary of State, Hope Andrade, to the Garland community. Your generous gift donations to the Garland Fire Fighters Association will be cherished by hundreds of children in the Garland area. We are all proud to have such strong and selfless leaders in our city. As Secretary Andrade said, it’s not about what happens to you in life, it’s about what you do with what happens to you, and you all are doing wonderful things. We hope you had an enjoyable morning with us and invite you to join us again in 2012 for the momentous occasion of our 25th Annual Prayer Breakfast.
