Bikes for Garland Kids
Here at the Garland Chamber of Commerce, we love to share good news from our members. Recently, a representative with the Salvation Army sent us this note, and we couldn't help but pass it along. We're grateful for organizations like the Salvation Army and the generosity of our local businesses for continuing to make Garland a better place.
"On Monday, July 29, twenty-two children from the Garland Summer Day Camp program received bikes sponsored by VISA & Wells Fargo. The bikes were given out at the Westin Galleria Hotel in Dallas.
120 Wells Fargo employees from all around the US came to Dallas for a week's training, administered by VISA. They had a team building event on Monday evening and the last segment was for each team to put together two bikes. Eddie Hill, who was in charge of this event, had taken the initiative to reach out the the Garland community by giving our children the bikes. The children arrived earlier that afternoon and were being activated by church members of the Monica Park Christian Church, where Eddie serves as the pastor. The smiles on the children's faces when they were brought into the ballroom to receive and take a first spin on their new bikes were priceless!"
