Announcing Our Newest Team Member, Andrea Tamez
The Garland Chamber of Commerce staff is thrilled to announce the newest addition to the Chamber team, Andrea Tamez. Andrea joins us as our new Small Business Program Coordinator and will be responsible for driving local small business owners to specialized resources focused on long-term growth and sustainability.
Andrea received her BBA in Marketing and her MBA from Northwood University in Midland, Michigan. She comes to us from SERVPRO of Park Cities and North Garland where she served as their Marketing Support Coordinator. Andrea’s past experience includes being a liaison between the manager and the sales team, working with coordination of events, improving communication between departments, and consulting with clients, who she provided the right tools and plans for process improvement and sustainable success.
In her spare time, Andrea enjoys spending time with her family. They like to do things outdoors, including riding bikes around the neighborhood and fishing by the lake. She likes watching binge-worthy shows such as Game of Thrones (HOUSE STARK!) and Friends (How you doin’?!). Andrea can also make some awesome chicken enchiladas and she does it all while listening to good music that makes her dance.
Andrea was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. She has family all over the DFW area, including Garland, and has been in the area for more than 20 years. She is very excited to be working with the Chamber where she can use her experiences and knowledge to help the local, small business in Garland flourish and become successful.
“I live by two mottos," Andrea said.
"Number one, ‘There is always a solution.’ Knowing that there is always a solution to a problem or issue gives me the motivation to strive for the ideal solution, it’s just a matter of finding it. Number two, ‘Hope is not a strategy.’ My marketing professor said that in class once and it has never left my mind. We can’t just hope for things to happen in our favor; we need to work for them and give it our best, give it our all, and good things happen. The combination of these two gives me the drive to work with everyone and anyone who is need of our resources, and provide the guidance necessary for them to be successful.”
We invite you to stop by the Chamber office any time to welcome Andrea to our team and hope you will find time to be a resource for her as she develops this new and exciting role.
