Free Tornado Recovery Program Scheduled at Eastfield College

Following the storms and tornado damage that ravaged Garland, Rowlett and other North Texas communities on Dec. 26, 2015, many people who lost their homes, property or businesses were left to literally pick up the pieces and move forward. Eastfield College and the Dallas County Community College District will present a free tornado recovery program on Tues., Jan. 26, to help area residents and businesses learn how to maneuver through those and other issues.

“Manufacturing isn’t sexy.” That seemed to be the common theme among members of the manufacturing panel hosted by the Garland Chamber of Commerce on Oct. 26 at its Monthly Luncheon event. Representatives from three local manufacturers, MAPEI, Spectrum Brands Global Auto Care and Packaging Corporation of America, gave audience members a brief glimpse into the world of manufacturing during Monday’s presentation, and while it may not be “sexy,” it certainly is significant.
