The BOLD Speaker Series is a Garland Chamber program, sponsored by Texas Security Bank to provide continuing education to business owners. The purpose is to give all business owners, small to large, members and nonmembers, the most relevant information on taxes, hiring, marketing, operations, and banking to help businesses grow and be sustainable. This event is monthly, on the fourth Tuesday excluding June, July, and December.

About the Topic:

“Results-Driven Strategic Planning”

Results-Driven Strategic Planning is a practical, proven approach to strategic planning for small to medium sized businesses. It is one that we use at Texas Security Bank, and it is heavily influenced by the EOS Traction system laid out in Gino Wickman’s book, “Traction, Get a Grip on Your Business”. My goal is to provide information that you can use to deliver value for your business.

About the Speaker:

James Ocker serves as Vice President of Financial Planning & Analysis for Texas Security Bank. In this role, James evaluates the bank’s financial performance, ensuring alignment of priorities and strategy with corporate objectives, optimization of shareholder value, and the establishment of financial controls.

Previously, James held various strategic roles within the FP&A domain at multiple financial institutions, consistently striving to bridge the gap between strategy and results. His passion for understanding the “why” behind the numbers propelled him to dive deep into aligning business goals with financial realities. His meticulous approach to data and its narratives has always been at the forefront of his career.

James earned his Master of Business Administration with concentrations in Accounting and Finance from Southern Methodist University and a Bachelor of Science in Finance from the University of Oklahoma. James lives in Dallas and enjoys spending time with his wife, Erin, and his children, Ava June and Owen.

Texas Security Bank invests more resources in business education for owner-managed businesses than other banks. Their focus on continuing education is truly unique and needed. They Elevate the Champions of Free Enterprise in an era when little differentiation among banks exists.
