About the Speaker

Genai Walker-Macklin

Genai Walker-Macklin is a Financial Advisor with Morgan Stanley in Dallas and is an Arkansas native.  She graduated from the University of Central Arkansas with a BS degree of Mathematics and Sociology with honors, cum laude and Associates in Spanish. After college, Genai was recruited by Coates Sports Management to play basketball professionally. She played in numerous countries such as Spain, Portugal, England, Ecuador, Uruguay, and Switzerland, as well as Spanish Islands Mallorca, Ibiza, and Tenerife for 8 years.  She also participated in stints in the WNBA with teams like the Tulsa Shock and Atlanta Dream.  Genai continued to work in the finance industry in-between seasons.  She also achieved her M.S. in Health Science and a certification in Spanish studies while living abroad.

In 2012, Genai retired from playing professionally and moved to Texas to focus on her financial career, where she resides with her husband and dog, Kema. Genai has been very active in her community. She is a member of the NCAAP of Garland, Kiwanis, the Garland Sports Hall of Fame, the City of Garland (CMC), the United Way Community Impact Grant Panel, MADD, Children at Risk and NBRPA of Dallas. Her favorite activities include spending time with her family, watching sports, and caring for animals.

Caleb Williams

Caleb Williams’ academic and professional success is a direct by-product of the education he received in Garland, TX.

Whether it was Park Crest Elementary providing the right environment for exploration, Sam Houston Middle School pushing him to think bigger, or Garland High School teaching him how to be a leader and take pride in his community, Caleb was inspired by GISD. 

He went on to graduate Summa Cum Laude at Texas Tech University with a Bachelor's degree in Advertising and moved back to Dallas to start his career in advertising and digital media. Caleb currently works at MiQ, a global ad tech company, as a Senior Director and oversees a $40M dollar territory. 

He is passionate about giving back to others by serving at his local church, mentoring young adults, and financially supporting causes that provide for those who are less fortunate. Caleb and his wife, Ashley, have been married for 12 years and are raising two elementary aged daughters (10 & 8) in Dallas, TX. 

Wendy Sheriff

Wendy Sheriff is a Garland Police Officer where she is currently assigned to the Homeless Task Force as one of the Homeless Liaisons. Wendy has been working with those who identify as Homeless since 2009 and has officially held the position as a Homeless Liaison since 2016.

Wendy has distinctively served the garland Police Department for twenty seven years, where she has held the positions as Patrol Officer, School Resource Officer, Neighborhood Service Team and Neighborhood Police Officer, as well as a Sexual Assault and Family Violence Detective.

Wendy is a Master Peace Officer and is certified in Critical Incident Stress Management, a certified Mental Health officer and holds and Advanced Instructors Certificate.

Wendy is a United States Army Disabled Veteran, having honorably served for nine years with tours in Panama, Honduras, Germany, Desert Shield and Desert Storm.

Wendy is the owner and Real Estate Broker of record for New Home Connections Real Estate Company, Owner and CEO of Sheriff Consulting Services LLC and Pose In Motion Photography LLC. Wendy is also the founder and president of Minding The Gap a 501(c)3 Non-Profit Organization that serves the unhoused Community.
