Keys shares nitty-gritty trials and triumphs, provides tips for caregivers, while also highlighting a common journey where loved ones can find solace, community, and ultimately peace. Those whose loved ones have descended into dementia, or who care for them, will find understanding, hope, and help in this one woman's story.

About the Speaker

Deborah Keys

Deborah Keys is a native Texan who grew up in Terrell, Texas, graduated from Terrell High School, and earned a BA degree from Stephen F. Austin State University.

After teaching junior high school English and science in Richardson ISD for 29 years, she retired only to return to the same district as a substitute teacher where she is currently substitute teaching on a fairly regular basis. 

For more than five years, she was a full time caregiver for her mom who was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s dementia.  Hoping to minister to other caregivers, Debbie published her personal journal of her journey with her mom in a book titled Why Do You Think I Call You Mama?  A journey through dementia. 

Debbie enjoys writing, speaking, cooking, entertaining, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
