About the Topic
Pete Havel thought he knew a thing or two about toxic environments, as he had spent most of his career in politics and lobbying . But then he made a wrong turn into a toxic professional environment with a poisoned culture and bad leadership that changed his career path, his life and his future forever. He's not only survived it, but he’s written a book, The Arsonist in the Office, about the experience and what executives, company owners, managers, and average employees need to know about toxic cultures and bad behavior. Want to sharpen your leadership focus, learn how to take on tough issues boldly, and gain insight on how to avoid wildfires breaking out around you? You’ll be guaranteed to laugh and learn, as Pete provides tips on how to ‘fireproof’ your world against the arsonists.
About the Speaker
Pete Havel has served as a lobbyist and political strategist for some of America's leading business advocacy associations, including his time as the Southwest and South Central Regional Director for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
In those roles, he served as lobbyist, media spokesman, negotiator, crisis communicator, and fundraiser.
He's also served at top strategic communications firm like Burson Marsteller, The Wolf Group, and Sunwest Communications, helping businesses create brands, protect reputations and help companies tell stories to their customers.
Peter is now an author, speaker, trainer and consultant. He wrote "The Arsonist in the Office" after a surreal experience inside a fictionalized company he calls "The Firm." The Arsonist in the Office provides readers the tools, tactics and tips necessary to protect or transform toxic organizational cultures and survives toxic behavior. He provides his fireproofing strategies to organizations through speeches, training, and consulting.
Peter is a 1992 graduate of Baylor University, an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan, and leads a never-ending search for the perfect plate of brisket. He and his wife Janie live in Dallas with their 16-year-old daughter Reagan.
