About the Topic
Dr. Abbott will begin with a history on palliative care and share the evolution of the support system that has become the core of the program.
About the Speaker
Dr. Amanda Abbott is a palliative care physician who is also board certified in internal medicine. She was born and raised in the metroplex, earning her bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of North Texas in Denton, and then her doctorate degree from the UNT Health Sciences Center in Fort Worth. She then completed internal medicine residency in central Arkansas, followed by fellowship training in hospice and palliative care at the Texas Tech Health Science Center in Lubbock. She has presented at several national and regional conferences in the last few years and has recently joined the Baylor family as the medical director for palliative care at Lake Pointe hospital in Rowlett.
