In honor of National Manufacturing Day on Oct. 7, 2016, the Garland Chamber of Commerce and Dallas County Manufacturers’ Association will host an Appreciation Breakfast recognizing the significance of manufacturing in the global economy and expressing our gratitude for the positive impact of the industry in Garland, Texas.

We are pleased to announce that Darren K. Ford, SPHR has accepted the invitation to join us at 3rd annual event as our keynote speaker. Ford is the Corporate Manager of Talent Development for Trinity Industries and is responsible for all corporate training and talent development initiatives such as Leadership Development, New Manager training, and Building a Customer-Centric Culture. Ford also leads ProCulture Consulting, an organization dedicated to helping companies build engaging cultures and engaged employees. PCC emphasizes several areas including customer service, frontline and leadership development, corporate culture, employee engagement and the Appreciation Breakfast's topic, Managing Millennials.

The Garland Chamber and DCMA, along with local elected officials and Economic Development Investors, look forward to the opportunity to welcome our local manufacturers and celebrate their contributions and achievements on Oct. 7.

About the Topic

The Millennials are coming! Actually, they’re already here. These amazing workers want to change the world – and they will!

Organizations must change the way they do business if they are going to attract and retain these new workers. Companies must understand the differences among the four generations currently in the workforce and experienced managers must update their motivational and leadership strategies to get the most from this upcoming employee.

That is the objective of The Millennial Challenge, to help organizations blend these unique workers with the rest of their workforce. Through an interactive discussion, we’ll explore current thoughts and attitudes toward the Millennial worker, review some research revolving around this generation, and identify some strategies for hiring, managing, developing, and retaining Millennial workers.
