Golden Chick Partners with Good Samaritans of Garland for Tornado Relief Fundraiser

(Dallas) January 5, 2016 – Golden Chick, the Texas-based chicken legend that has prided itself on treating guests like family since 1967, today announced its partnership with Good Samaritans of Garland to support tornado relief efforts in the Garland and Rowlett communities.

After the tragedy and destruction caused by December 26’s tornadoes, Golden Chick decided to delay the opening of its new Garland location, initially slated to open on Wednesday, December 30, to focus efforts on helping tornado victims and disaster relief volunteers at local relief shelters including Gale Field Recreation Center in Garland and Steadham Elementary School in Rowlett.

The newest Golden Chick in Garland officially opens today, January 5, 2016 at 430 East IH 30, Garland, TX 75043 (IH-30 at Bobtown Road), and will be opening its doors to collect monetary and non-perishable food donations to be donated directly to Good Samaritans of Garland’s relief efforts through Sunday, January 10, 2016. All four Garland Golden Chick locations, as well as the Richardson location will be participating in fundraising efforts. For every cash donation exceeding five dollars and food donation exceeding five items, donators will receive a five-dollar gift card. For every donation collected, Golden Chick will also make an additional monetary donation to Good Samaritans of Garland.

“It’s going to take time for the Garland and Rowlett communities to get back on their feet, and we are here to help,” said Garland store supervisor Bobby Brannon. “After spending time serving in the shelters this past week and knowing many of our own crew members were affected, it is even closer to our hearts.”

Participating Golden Chick locations are located at the following addresses:
430 East IH 30, Garland
2702 Lavon Dr., Garland
2172 N Jupiter Rd., Garland
3330 Broadway, Garland
445 W Arapaho Rd., Richardson

“The impact the tornadoes had on these communities has been heartbreaking,” said Golden Chick CEO Mark Parmerlee. “We are grateful to have the opportunity to open our doors and serve as a vessel for donation collections. Every little bit helps. We are pleased to be working with such a wonderful organization like Good Samaritans of Garland. Knowing the donations will be going directly into the hands of the survivors means so much to us,” Parmerlee added.

About Good Samaritans of Garland
Established in 1982 by the Garland Ministerial Alliance, Good Samaritans of Garland, Inc. was incorporated in 1983. Good Samaritans was founded on the concept that as churches became aware of people in need, they could refer them to a central agency rather than each church maintaining its own food pantry.
