Let the summer shenanigans officially begin, as we kick off the end of the school year. With so many things to do, it can be difficult to find new and different ways to spend time with your kids. Especially at an affordable cost.  Here are the some of the top kid friendly adventures awaiting you and your kiddos this summer!

#1. Outdoor activities; mostly beating that summer heat over at the pool and enjoying concert series. Hawaiian Falls, check out their special events like Dive-In Movies, Late Nights and a Luau Party. Surf & Swim are now open along with all the nearby public pools, like Bradfield and Holford pools. Stop on by the summer concert series like Sounds of Summer ending July 21st and Band Together on the Square lasting till September.

#2. Going to see a movie. Some of the new movies kicking off summer are Lightyear on June 17th, Minions: The Rise of Gru on July 1st, Paws of Fury: The Legend of Hank July 15th, and DC League of Super Pets July 29th. Enjoy a day of movie watching and arcades over at Strike and Reel, movie tickets every Tuesday will be $5 and there is everything ranging from video games to bowling to bumper cars and laser tag.

#3. Rolling around the roller rink or enjoying a day of fun at an arcade. Enjoy some quality gaming time over at NickelRama Arcade, play awesome games for the low price of $4.95. And last enjoy some time around the rink over at Texas Skatium, a great way to ROLL into summer.

#4. Expanding those growing minds over at the library. Kick off Summer with events happening June 11th like taking pictures with characters from Moana, making jellyfish suncatchers or engaging in a pirate scavenger hunt. The libraries are also having a summer reading program as well as story times and active educational activities.

#5. Experiencing the arts, like watching plays and musicals. There will be incredible performances like Beauty and The Beast Jr. June 14th-17th, Tuck Everlasting: The Musical from June 30-July 3, Matilda: The Musical from July 9th-17th, and  Garland Summer Musicals present 42nd Street  June 17th- 26th and Legally Blonde from July 22nd-31st.

What a great way to start this summer right. There are endless options here within your own local community, and even within the DFW area. But however, you choose to spend that time with the kiddos, it will be loaded with so much fun.
