One of the state’s most successful and longest-running leadership training programs, Leadership Garland equips participants with the skills and perspectives they need to contribute to their community as effective business and civic leaders.
A practical leadership training program
Through active participation and hands-on experiential learning, each year’s attendees will learn practical leadership skills, understand more about their local city, regional and state context and discover opportunities to apply their skills in the local community.
What’s Included:
- One full-day training per month for nine months on a variety of topics
- Collaborative learning experiences with classmates
- Hear from alumni and local leaders on effective leadership
- Learn more about your city, region and state
- Invitation to join the Alumni Network upon graduation
This is for you if:
- You’ve lived in Garland for at least one year
- You’ve been part of the Garland Chamber for at least one year
- You’re actively seeking opportunities to serve the community
- You want to learn more about local, regional and state government
- You want to refine your leadership skills

Alumni Network
Our slogan at Leadership Garland is “you don’t graduate from Leadership Garland, you graduate into the Leadership of Garland.” Many of our alumni have gone on to be elected to Garland City Council and the Garland ISD Board of Trustees. They’ve been appointed to Garland Boards and Commissions. They’ve served on non-profit organization boards throughout the region. Many have learned skills that allowed them to earn promotions within their businesses.
Behind the scenes is the Leadership Garland Alumni group, which exists to provide continual training, networking events and opportunities for graduates from all classes to continually invest in the community while keeping them up to date on current events and community needs.
